Over the last two years I have been working to try and get Footpath 142, which runs from Wingletye Lane near to Lilliput’s Riding Stable across to the A127, cleared and accessible again for members who walk this way, either on their own or with their four footed friends.

There have been various problems such as the path becoming overgrown with brambles, stiles falling into disrepair and collapsing, obstruction by landowners and removal of finger (sign) posts telling walkers which way to go.

After numerous emails to Havering Council and help from Councillor Ramsey I am delighted to report that whilst out walking this morning, I noticed that the last decaying stile has been replaced with a far more modern chain gate stile.20160907_095810_resized

These modern stiles allow easy and safe access from one area to another while still providing a barrier to livestock that may be in the fields.

The benefit of this type of stile is there is no climbing involved, for which I for one am most glad as I do not enjoy on a wet cold day clambering over a stile with muddy boots and having to try and lift the dog over afterwards.

So if you have a problem be it with a footpath, worn paving or anything else, first of all try to resolve it by contacting the council. If the matter is not resolved in a reasonable amount of time, then contact EPAGRA by either phoning one of the committee members whose contact details are on the front of the Resident or emailing in on the email page attached to our website.

We can be contacted via the website at www.epagra.org.uk .

So remember EPAGRA is your local Residents Association and we are here to look after your interests and to help keep the area we live in a pleasant and safe environment.
