Last year Marion and myself decided to join a couple of local groups and find out what went on at their meetings. One we had heard of was called Havering over 50s Forum.

The forum holds its meetings once a month in the Council Chamber at Havering Town Hall. We decided to go along with the thought that it may be interesting but not expecting too much. WRONG

What we did find is apart from being a very friendly group of people, who made us newbies very welcome, that they are a non-political organisation who offer a platform where the over 50’s can find information and raise issues which are of a concern to them.

Each month they have a selection of speakers and feedback from the executive committee.

There is also a monthly raffle which raises funds to support the forum.

The forum is open to London Borough of Havering residents aged over 50.

They meet monthly, usually 2nd Tuesday in the month, in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall. The forum runs from 10.30.am until 12.30.

Your first meeting is free, after that if you wish to join there is an annual fee of £5. Please go their website for more details.

They arrange events and trips so if you want some more information on the type of things they get involved with go to their events page on their website.

To make sure you hear about news, events and trips as soon as they are available you can subscribe to their  blog on the right hand side of any blog page.

The Forum would welcome ideas about what you would like to see on our website or for speakers at the forum.

So if you want an entertaining and thought provoking morning out with informative speakers and pleasant company look no further and we look forward in seeing you at the next meeting which is on Tuesday 12th March at 10.30 am in the council chamber in the Town Hall Romford
